Palliative Care

Supporting You and Your Family Through a Difficult Time

St. Joseph Manor offers residents support to relieve pain and ease suffering through our Palliative Care Program. Palliative care allows patients and residents, most of whom battle chronic diseases or debilitating illnesses, enjoy the best quality of life possible. Our goal is to manage the five domains of pain: physical, spiritual, emotional, mental and familial. We also focus on symptom control such as helping relieve shortness of breath and anxiety.

Our Palliative Care Program seeks to meet each individual’s needs and is not dependent upon a prognosis. Palliative care can be provided in conjunction with any curative and life prolonging treatments the resident has chosen to undergo. A personalized Palliative Plan of Care is developed for each resident or patient based on their assessed needs and those of their family.

Residents will be assessed for Palliative Care Program by the Palliative Care team as the need arises. Any member of this interdisciplinary team can recommend a patient be considered for palliative care.

We have contracts with many area Hospice programs and are able to refer residents and their families when Hospice is appropriate.
